Q: When did you fall in love with design?
S: Fell in love with design at a young age....maybe 5 years old when my Mum taught me sewing and crochet.
M: As long as I can remember I've been admiring the accent jewelry people were wearing. Every piece tells a story but it wasn't until I got into my mid 20s that I started to create my own pieces. Add in some interest in the healing arts, (sacred) geometry and numerology.....
Q: Describe your
creative work?
S: My knitwear is usually multi-functional - a scarf can be worn as a wrap - dress it up or dress it down. My jewelry is an attempt to honor antique and vintage pieces by rescuing damaged bits and reworking them into a modern whimsical design.
M: It's all a blend of stone energies enhanced by the power of numbers and a hint of personal style (hopefully) appealing to the eye.
Q: Coffee or Tea?

Q: Coffee or Tea?
S: Tea.
Q: What is the perfect cake?
S: The perfect cake is one shared with amazing friends after a delicious meal and a fabulous wine.
M: A no-calorie chocolate shared with great friends! Ha Ha!
Q: What advice would you give new art business people?
S: Be you. Don't compare yourself to others...Just do you and never give up your passion.
M: Follow your passion. It's all a learning process.
Q: Favorite Artists/Designers?
S: Coco Chanel, Alexander McQueen, Kaffe Fassett, Frida Kahlo and Camille Claudel
M: Nature. Susan Seddon Boulet.

Q: How did you meet
each other?
S: Haha! I bought a wrap at a show....then ordered another. We clicked!
M: I believe at a show. Sherri bought a bracelet but solid connections formed after a custom order.
Q: How did Meraki come to life?

Q: How did Meraki come to life?
S: After many visits and discussions over coffee and tea, we realized between us we could tackle our own show...curated and artisan only.
M: Over a number of visits and chats that led into talking about lack of 'artisan only' shows in the area (at the time) - a small joking comment...."Maybe we should do one." - Followed by a thoughtful pause and here we are - into our 3rd year!
Q: If you were about to host a dinner party, which 10 people would you invite?
S: My Mum, Neil Young, Alexander McQueen, Coco Chanel, Frida Kahlo, Michelle, Salvador Dali, Janis Joplin, A handsome singing guitar playing Scotsman and Irving Penn.
M: Trick question. I'm an introvert! LOL! So many possibilities: Would have to go with my parents, Hubby (obviously) and my closest friends....in the mix are great storytellers, musicians and travellers. What's better?
Q: Why should
someone attend Meraki Market?
S: This is Meraki's 3rd year! I feel in that short time we have brought together a beautiful community of very talented Artisans. It's amazing how much local talent we have in the Georgian Triangle and outlying areas. Many visitors to our shows come back for the next show and the one after that and so on. Visitors to a Meraki event will find unique handcrafted pieces and makers who are passionate not only for what they do but also passionate about their community.
M: Meraki is a growing community of Artisans/Makers. People coming to Meraki are supporting local. Handcrafted. Small businesses are connecting with others thus strengthening the ties of community all the while indulging in OOAK (one of a kind) to decorate some aspect of their lives.
