I love baking scones but there is an issue.
They disappear fast.
If you don't have buttermilk just use
milk with a tbsp. of white vinegar mixed in.
I like to keep careful watch and brown them
ever so slightly because I love the look and texture of taste.
400 degree oven
Whisk together
4 3/4 cup flour
1 tbsp baking powder
1 tsp baking soda
2 tsp salt
1/2 cup white sugar
Cut in 1 cup cold butter
until it becomes coarse crumbles
Add 1 1/4 cup buttermilk
and
2/3 cup raisins or currants or craisins
or any other combinations of goodies
You can also add 1 tbsp
of a zest you love
Turn dough out on a lightly floured surface
Gently pat out into a 10" (approx) round
1" thick
With a paring knife
Slice the round into wedges
Place on parchment paper pan
a few inches apart
cover and chill in refrigerator for a few hours
or overnight
Brush tops with heavy cream
sprinkle with sugar
Bake 20-25 until golden
